Imagine,

if you could go down to the local cafe and buy a coffee & salad with units.  The cafe owner sources her coffee beans from a trader in FNQ and a local market gardener in a neighboring suburb supplies the salad greens all paid with Units.  The owner is a great boss and organizes a LETS masseur to come to the cafe once a month gives all of her staff a shoulder massage.  She even pays some of her staff in the local currency as a waiter pays his rent in Units and others regularly use services that are offered in the exchange.

Imagine,

if a social enterprise operates in your neighborhood, like a Food co-op or a Tool Library and they accept units for membership fees because they reward their volunteers for their time in helping their organisations.

Imagine,

if an economic downturn sweeps across the nation, and there are two competing businesses.  One has heard about a local mutual currency exchange and has thousands of members, so the business starts to accept units as payment for his services.  The demand is so huge, that he has to put on extra staff to cope.  The other business is struggling so badly because there is a credit squeeze and his traditional customers are putting all of their spare cash into their mortgages and credit card payments, he is laying off staff and eventually the BANK wants its money back, so the business goes into receivership and closes.
