A Desire For a Lasting Tribute to Beautiful Alison
At the November trading day there was a lovely memorial for the wonderful Alison Bird. A few members voiced a desire to have a lasting tribute to Alison through a colour change of our BrisLETS logo. The colour change of Turquoise / Blue which everyone felt represented Alison the best, was supported by all present.
Our present logo above would have Turquoise / Blue people with white background.
Let’s Consider a Total Logo Change ?
Is this the time to introduce a completely new logo which will symbolise what BrisLETS is? The logo will then be placed on our marketing material, website and social media etc. As we are hoping to receive funding in the near future giving us an opportunity to re-brand, the money will be well spent to grow our community and expand our trader base.
The desire for a full logo change was a topic of discussion at last week’s December trading day where a large majority of the 25 members present agreed that they would support a process to allow members to come forward with logo ideas. This will enable what BrisLETS represents to be symbolised in our logo as well as including something which honours the essence of Alison – who played such a significant part in how BrisLETS has blossomed over the last 10 years.
To have as many of the membership involved as possible, it was discussed at the trading day to allow time
for new design submissions. Please email your design or share your ideas in the comments below and our design team, Rachel and Megan, will design something from your suggestions.
Logo designs will be published for consideration in the newsletter, facebook and be exhibited at the February/ March trading days. Four designs will be selected for the vote at the general meeting in March. The present logo with a colour change in memory of Alison Bird will be one of the four.
Design Away – Some things to Consider
Here are some suggestions if you wish to design a logo:
- no words (words can be added around a logo; they are not part of a logo)
- a circle
- arrows as the circle
- an icon of Brisbane such as the river or the bridge
- community / connection / exchange / skills / trading
Submissions will be taken until 28th February 2019 – they can be emailed to Megan – firstname.lastname@example.org
We invite you to get involved to make our re-branding impactful and meaningful, enabling the BrisLETS community and our CES Trader base to flourish 2019, all the while carrying the essence of Alison close.
