Southside Hub at Autumn Festival at St David’s @ St David's Community Centre
Mar 30 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

This month’s meeting will serve for both March and April because we have a lot on in March and it’s a great opportunity to mix it in with a much larger crowd of locals at St David’s Community Center Autumn Festival.

We will focus on promotion to non-members, but having a lovely display of enticing goods, beautifully presented and packaged, and a massage chair. These will be mainly for show as they will only be available in Units. Be ready to talk about BrisLETS with locals who may not know about CES/LETS. Most of all, we need volunteers on a roster. Contact Simon.

7:30AM – SET UP
8:30AM Promoting BrisLETS to locals. Learn how to trade using the mobile website (you need a smart phone) and then be ready to show others. There will be a tablet and a laptop to show how it all works, so this is a good opportunity for you to brush up on that as well.
10:00AM? Presentation by Simon in the Harmony Room?
11:30 Brunch. There is usually food for sale at the festival and it’s good to support them, so only bring something specific to your diet.
1:00 Bump out – please assist.

Park and enter on Rookwood Avenue. It’s a great venue; street visibility, indoor hall with urn, tv screen & piano and out door area so all weather, playground for kids.

Any member can create a Hub event like this and have it advertised in the Events Update email and on the website. This usually 1st-Sunday-of-the-month event can be replicated by any BrisLETS member by logging into CES and finding your neighbours in the Members Map.

Think Tank & Learning Circle @ The Edge - State Library of Queensland
Apr 13 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The Learning Circle Think Tank

BrisLETS’ think-tank for mutual credit aficionados – currently including Paul Wildman, Simon Cole, Ishka McNulty and others will meet again and choose from the following topics to discuss:

  • is there an infinite supply of Units, or must they balance out? (we started discussing this in February)
  • how is mutual credit different to cryptos and fiat debt-based money?
  • managing a CES/LETS exchange (Skype/Zoom with fnqces Bel Moore)
    • CES traders as members of an incorporated exchange
    • maintaining membership/accounts
  • how is mutual credit valued and how do we make it valuable?
  • NENA (New Economy Network Australia) membership for BrisLETS – pros & cons

RSPV by commenting below or texting me (Simon). If fewer than 3 RSVPs are received, the event will be cancelled.

Please read more about the Think Tank before joining a meeting. A full explanation and suggestions for basic research are here under our About menu.

The Think Tank meets bi-monthly. It has no power in any CES or LETS exchange and is informal so there is no record-keeping in this group. It compliments the CES Australia Administration group (Annette Loudon, Bel Moore and Tania Brookes) which takes care of Australia’s national web hosting and international relations with overseas exchanges (Tim Jenkins and Matthew Slater).
